Those looking for family-friendly New Year’s Eve events during the day will find a variety of options in Old Town.
“New Year’s Eve Before Dark” will include special activities throughout the day on December 31 at three museums, the Old Town Gazebo, and other venues.
The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science
New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can enjoy hands-on activities, free with regular admission, in the museum’s atrium from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The Albuquerque Museum
The Albuquerque Museum is hosting art making activities in its Grand Lobby from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The exhibits, cafe, and shop will not be open. The activities are free of charge.
Explora’s annual Noon Year’s Eve Family Celebration, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature a Balloon Drop at noon to celebrate the new year 12 hours early. To ring in Noon Year’s Eve, 2,019 balloons will be released. Exlora will also have have a photo selfie station with fun props, a 2019 Wish Wall, and other activities. All activities are included with regular admission. Explora closes at 2 p.m. on December 31 and will reopen January 2.
Old Town Gazebo
Trio Los Amigos de New Mexico will perform authentic Mexican, Latin American, and classical music at the Old Town Gazebo from noon to 2 p.m. Los Amigos have been playing for 10 years in many venues including festivals, private performances, and TV appearances in Mexico and the United States. The concert is free.
Spurline Supply Co.
Spurline Supply Co. is hosting a children’s crown making event from 2 to 4 p.m. The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
