Enjoy an early evening of agriculture, history, music, art, poetry, and traditional workshops making chile ristras and other New Mexican traditions.
Join us at the 2nd Annual La Familia Growers Market Harvest Festival in the heart of the South Valley, at the Dolores Huerta Gateway Park, and enjoy an early evening supporting local farmers, bakers, music, art, free face painting for children, and a children’s playground. There will be free workshops where participants can learn the following New Mexico traditions: How to make a chile ristras, red chile powder, atole, quelites, and parched corn.
Music by local musicians Rio Grande Express and Mexcla Latina. Poetry from the South Valley featuring Albuquerque’s Grand Slam Poet 2017 Marcial Delgado, and a special dance by the Acoma Pueblo Enchantment dancers. Enjoy a walking tour of the park and learn about the history of the Dolores Huerta Gateway Park, agriculture, El Camino Real, and acequias.
