Join Danielle Bilot, Environmental Design Instructor at the University of Colorado-Boulder, as she showcases the variety of native bees in cities and the value they provide. She will discuss how we can better adapt our planting standards (from parks to parking lots) to support biodiversity. Whether you are a homeowner looking for planting tips or a city official working to improve policy, there is something everyone can take away and practice in their own personal and professional fields of interest. This is part of a pollinator series coordinated by New Mexico State University College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, and funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Bio Danielle Bilot is an Instructor at the University of Colorado-Boulder in the Program in Environmental Design, focusing on developing innovative methods, designs, and policies around urban pollinator habitat. Danielle has given presentations around the country, including TED and TEDx talks, and has worked on the White House Pollinator Action Plan released in 2015. Her talk will showcase the variety of native bees in cities, the value they provide, and how we can better adapt our planting standards (from parks to parking lots) to support biodiversity. Whether you are a homeowner looking for planting tips or a city official working to improve policy, there is something everyone can take away and practice in their own personal and professional fields of interest.
