Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in the day-long workshop, “Mindful Looking and Listening,” to be held at the UNM Art Museum on 10/22 (please see poster, attached). Through short, guided sessions, the workshop explores the relationship between mindfulness and the arts, with the goal of expanding our ability to “pay attention on purpose” in the present moment. No prior mindfulness experience required. Come for twenty minutes or stay for the whole day. Featuring performances by the Abe Frank String Quartet, the Honky Tonk Ensemble, and UNM and community songwriters. Workshop ends with a panel and discussion, led by Kristina Jacobsen (Music and Anthropology), Justine Andrews (Art & Art History) and Matthew Forte (Music) on Contemplative Pedagogy in the classroom. Detailed schedule to follow.
