Music has long been thought of as a great uniter. Musical performances throughout history have shown us that people of different backgrounds can easily put aside differences while music is in the air. Classical music in particular has been a constant throughout the ages- before there was hip hop and rock & roll, people have gathered and enjoyed classical music composed with various brass, string, woodwind and percussion instruments.
This week, Albuquerque is proud to be the host of the John Donald Robb Composer’s Symposium, which is celebrating its 48th year. The symposium runs from the 25th to the 31st and features multiple concerts on each day, all of which are free and open to the public. The 2019 Symposium will present works by more than 50 national and international composers including this year’s guest artists: Arditti Quartet, Sound Icon, Emanuele Arciuli, Ingela Onstad, Chatter, and the New Mexico Contemporary Ensemble (NMCE).
This is an excellent opportunity to hear incredible compositions in multiple venues around the city, all for free! Experience the unity and wonder that live music can provide during the John Donald Robb Composer’s Symposium.
Except where specified, all concerts will be held in Keller Hall in the Center for the Arts, University of New Mexico.
