Albuquerque Film & Media Experience
The Albuquerque Film & Music Experience promises an amazing week of incredible musical performances, one-of-a-kind films, and opportunities for attendees to engage with filmmakers, actors, and artists from around the world. Created and Executive Produced by Ivan Wiener, AFME’s mission to bring people together through the power of film, music and the arts is bigger than ever going into its third year. The unique, mainstream celebration of the arts, taking place June 1-7, has attracted the participation of many industry leaders and luminaries from New Mexico productions, world markets and Hollywood.
“AFME 2015 offers a platform for celebrities, attendees and the entire community to come together and experience the best of Albuquerque in a fun, impactful and memorable way,” said Ivan Wiener. “Programming includes domestic and international movies, panels and workshops, a wide range of live music, celebrity guests and incredible after parties each night.”
Special events throughout the week include:
AFME’s “Reel” Dog Fashion Show at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque on June 1st with New York Pet Fashion Show’s Ada Nieves.New Mexico Short Movie Program at the South Broadway Cultural Center on Monday, June 1st with some of NM’s top filmmakers.AFME Art and Photography Exhibit – AFME honors its volunteer team with 25 of their original pieces on display at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque; a photography exhibit by music producer Jermain Dupri; and a dark art exhibit of works by world famous painter Chet Zar. Jermain and Chet will be in attendance to showcase their works.
Panels and workshops throughout the week will be informative and motivating for filmmakers, artists and the general public. The lineup includes: SAG-AFTRA’s Contracting and the Business of Acting, Women in Film & Television, The Allure of Filmmaking in New Mexico, Music in Movies and Television with top musicians, Drone University, The Art of the Pitch, Crash! Boom! Bang! Stuntman’s Panel, Jimmy Santiago Baca’s Writer’s Workshop, Casting, Cinematography, AFME’s Actor Panel and Crowdfunding and Distribution by Seed&Spark Workshop.
Other incredible programs throughout the week include: AFME’s International Short Movie Program, the VIP, Filmmaker and Sponsor Opening Night Reception and Movie (Help Us Find Sunil Tripathi), A Night of Poetry & Spoken Words, a military movie block honoring veterans, YAE (Youth Actor’s Experience) Camp and camper’s movie screening, a casting call for an upcoming feature movie – Notorious Nine – to be shot in New Mexico, Yoga in the Mornings, the AFME Filmmaker’s Brunch with special guest speaker and themed after parties each night.
Appearances by KC from KC and the Sunshine Band for the screening of The Record Man; Mitch Frohman, saxophonist for Tito Puente’s Band for the movie “For the Love of the Mambo”; Jimmy Santiago Baca for A Night of Poetry, writer’s workshop and the feature documentary “A Place to Stand”; artist Chet Zar will display 10 original pieces of his world renown art and be present for “I Like To Paint Monsters – The Chet Zar Story”; actors Bokeem Woodbine of 3000 Miles from Graceland and They Die By Dawn, Leven Rambin from the Hunger Games and One Tree Hill, Luke Mitchell from Agents of Shield and 7 Minutes, Sharon Lawrence from NYPD Blue, GRACE and Una Vida, music producer Jermain Dupri (presenting an exhibit of his photography), Annika Marks of The Sessions, GRACE and ABC Family’s The Fosters, Benito Martinez of The Shield, House of Cards and American Crime, Alicia Witt of 88 Minutes, Four Rooms and Two Week Notice, Joaquim de Almieda of Una Vida, Desperado, Clear and Present Danger and The Fugitive, screenwriter Bettina Gilois (McFarland USA), musicians Bobby Shew, Dave Eggar and Chuck Palmer, artist Sibylle Szaggars-Redford, casting director Rene Haynes, and many more.
